Immigration is not about what the government wants. Immigration is about how the electorate feels at any one time in history. Immigration is also about how many immigrants the electorate feels comfortable letting in at any one time. Australia’s recent history of Letting in large numbers of people from ethnic backgrounds that have little in common with cultures already long established here is rather absurd. It is a recipe for long term social unrest. Right now my reading of the electorate is that it wants immigration numbers cut back dramatically. The opinion polls verify this. Mr Abbott is entitled to his views. Nevertheless if he is fortunate enough to be chosen as the next Prime Minister of this great country he would do well to listen carefully to the electorate. In a democracy such as Australia it is what the majority want Mr Abbott.? Your personal views should be put aside.

I highly doubt that lower electric rates will instantly enable “most Vermonters” to buy electric vehicles resulting in fewer carbon emissions. EVs will never really make sense for people who live in hilly rural areas with dirt roads, salt, snow, cold temperatures, or hour+ commutes to deal with, even if the battery issues were magically solved. I’m not opposed to the concept of storing electricity, but I do not understand why you’d store electricity AND drive around with all that weight. Small scale wind that generates and stores DC power (or directly powers an efficient heat pump or refrigeration unit that, in effect, acts as a battery) without the losses associated with inversion, transmission and curtailment makes much more sense.
